About
Amy Benton’s from good stock. She grew up in the Midwest where her strong work ethic and solid values were born. In a two-story house with a white picket fence, on a corner lot situated on East Main Cross in Taylorville, Illinois is where she spent her early childhood days. At age 12, she got her first guitar, and she and her family moved to the country, a few miles east of town. After school, she packed her dreams and followed her heart to Nashville, Tennessee, where she soon found she was as comfortable on stage in a honky tonk, under bright neon lights, with just a guitar and her trusty mic as she was at home near cornfields and creeks or at church with a hymnbook.
With musical heroes and influences such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Joe Walsh (yes! Joe Walsh), Mindy Smith, Hayes Carll, and Pat Flynn, Amy found her own voice. Her music is steeped in deep, honest, traditional country music.
She is fortunate to combine two of her passions: loving people and playing music, into a career. Amy is a board-certified music therapist who works with children, adults with cancer, and the elderly.
She is thankful for good folks who have helped her along her way as she continues to write music, perform, and pitch songs.
